Yalıçiftlik – Bodrum / Muğla
Site Conditions
- Construction of terrace garden areas in front of near-vertical rock slopes using wrap-around faced, geogrid-reinforced soil wall technology.
- Because the reinforced soil wall facing was inclined at a flatter angle than the adjacent rock slope, the available space became insufficient to install the geogrid reinforcement at the required design length above a certain wall elevation.
- Continuing construction of the reinforced soil wall with geogrid lengths shorter than the design requirements would have resulted in internal stability problems.
Designed Solution
- Continuation of the fill construction using geofoam block technology at elevations where the geogrid reinforcement could no longer be installed at the required design length.
- Implementation of a hybrid solution combining two different geotechnical technologies.
Advantages of the Applied Geotechnology
- The fill could be constructed up to the required project elevations without introducing additional stresses that would adversely affect the internal stability of the geogrid-reinforced soil wall.
